Procrastination is defined as 'the action of delaying or postponing something' and is an act that most people, especially teenagers, are far too familiar with. To be honest with you, I am procrastinating right now, as I have three essays due tomorrow, but instead of doing them I am writing this. In my mind, procrastination is not being boring, or being completely unproductive, but procrastination is putting off doing something important, something that could actually improve your standard of living and happiness in the future. However, being a teenager, I usually look at things in the short term. In the short term doing an essay on whether 'economic growth is sustainable' will not aid me in any way, however, in the long term the essay will improve my economic knowledge, therefore aiding me in getting an A grade in my economics A Level and then securing me a place at my preferred university (which is obviously far more important to my future than writing this blog)
I am fully aware of all the drawbacks of me not doing the essay, although I still choose not to do it... why is this? Now, I could try to analyse the many possible answers to that question, however that is not my aim for this blog. This blog is going to be my diary, but not a stereotypical diary in which I bore you with my misfortunes in love, or the latest 'cringe' moments at school, but a diary in which I share my interests, hobbies and the general daily occurrences in my life with whoever cares to read about them.
So, I guess this is the end of my first blog post. If I have captured your attention, or fulfilled your desire to find someone else wasting their life as much as you are, then I would greatly appreciate your support in my continuation of writing this blog, which you can show by sharing it on any of your social networking sites, following this blog, or simply commenting your appreciation in the comments below. However, if you did not enjoy this post, then please lie to all your friends and social networking followers, by telling them that this is the greatest piece of writing you have ever read and that they should read it too.
Thanks for reading,
The Teenage Procrastinator.
