Summer Style: Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens has always been a fashion icon for me, she oozes style and follows fashion trends, but in an enviously individual way. Her latest red carpet appearance, at the Young Hollywood Awards, proved just that.

I think the first thing we need to address here is the girls abs - my god! To say I'm jealous would be a huge understatement. If you need your summer fitness inspiration, I think you've just found it. In all seriousness, this outfit is pure perfection in my eyes, Vanessa takes the staple summer trends of pairing crop tops with maxi skirts, and pulls them off effortlessly. The colour of the top is expertly tied in with Vanessa's blue eyeliner, and suits her skintone perfectly. The white skirt, clutch and silver accessories do well to emphasise her gorgeous summer glow and newly cut, ombre hair. I think that the most wonderful aspect of this outfit is how simple it is, Vanessa hasn't gone for a overly spectacular look, but has rather stuck to her bohemian, yet glamorous signature style. One thing is for certain, she definitely deserves the trendsetter award that she won that night.

As previously mentioned, this outfit is actually rather simple, which is great for us as it means that it can be reasonably easily recreated. Crop tops can be found in any shop, high fashion or high street, and the look can be experimented with due to the never-ending amount of cuts, patterns and colours that crop top can be found in nowadays. A maxi skirt as gorgeous as Vanessa's may be slightly more difficult to find in your local Forever 21, however as they are currently in fashion, as similar look is easily accessible. The look can also be altered by adding less jewelry to keep it more casual, or even changing the length of the skirt - perfect for us girls who just can't seem to pull off a maxi. Overall, I love Vanessa's style, and this look sums up exactly why - simple, classy and unbelievably beautiful.

Dinner and a Show

Today, I thought I would do a bit of a 'day in the life' type blog, if that's alright with you (not that you have much of a choice)

Last night (17/07/14) I went down to London Town with my mum for dinner and a show (title link!). For dinner we went to my favourite restaurant ever, Pizza Express, where we had a salad. However, do not be fooled into thinking that we wanted salad in order to be 'healthy', but it was because it was so damn hot in London yesterday, at least by us Brits standards. I personally had a chicken ceaser salad, which I highly recommend, and my mother had a new summer salad with salmon, which I must admit looked delicious 😋

After dinner we strolled over to the theatre to see The Crucible. We chose the play because both my mother and I had studied it at school, also because the rather good looking Richard Armitage was starring. Unfortunately I wasn't permitted to take any photos inside the theatre (not even a selfie😱), however I did get a programme so here's a picture of that.

The play was absolutely incredible and I would highly recommend it to any of you who want to see a dramatic and intense three hour long performance, yes three hours. Richard Armitage was flawless, however no attention was taken away from the other actors who were equally phenomenal.

So yeah, that was my day, well evening really. Hope you enjoyed ☺️ (P.S: what do you think about the use of emojis? They're fun, right?)

Red Lipstick

Red lipstick is a wonderful, wonderful invention. This simple piece of makeup has the ability to completely change the look and attitude of the user, and I am falling in love with it. Whether you're rushing out of the door and it's the only thing within reach, or if you're a heartbreaker getting ready for a night on the town, red lipstick is sure to never let you down.

One of my favourite aspects of the staple makeup product is its accessibility. No matter what your budget you will be able to find a nice red lipstick that suits you, and I don't know about you but that's pretty exciting! You can go into a department store and spend £25 on a 'specially formulated' lipstick, or you can pop into your local drugstore and buy one for £2.50. Yes, of course the cheaper one may not last as long, or they may not have as many choice of shade and finish, but if it's a red lipstick you want, you're sure to get it.

I also love how red lipstick can be worn by anyone. No matter your hair colour, eye colour, skin tone, you will easily be able to find a shade that suits you. It may be a statement that most would recommend you wait until your latter teenage years to start making, especially during the day, but I can assure you that everyone can wear red lipstick and look incredible in it. So, my challenge for you today is to wear red lipstick. Whether you already wear it all of the time, or if you're terrified of the possible teeth stains, go down to your nearest beauty store, pick up a red lipstick and own it.

Summer Style: Taylor Swift

How's it going, friends? Proud of me for blogging everyday? I know, I'm doing well *three cheers for me*

So, today I want to start a new series in which I talk about my favourite fashionable females of the week. The posts will be called '(whatever the season is) Style' and the inspiration will come from whatever woman I think has been topping the style stakes for that week. And for this week, it's the beautiful, Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift has always been on point with her fashion choices, whether it be on the red carpet or just heading to the supermarket. However, since moving to New York City, the singer-songwriters fashion choices have oozed style and class. Although, my favourite this week hasn't been her daring backless top, or a gorgeous, sexy jumpsuit, but her simple and casual denim short display, which she was seen wearing on a day out in the city.

The gorgeous denim shorts covered in anchors take the focus of the outfit, and Taylor expertedly builds her outfit around the ModCloth staple. Miss Swift brings out the anchors with a basic, white tee and wear a pair of signature, heeled oxfords to add height (not that she needs it) and to keep the outfit super stylish.

The outfit is a perfect example of how to wear casual and comfy summer clothes, whilst remaining fashionable. However, if you wanted to remain casual, the heels could easily be substituted for a basic pair of gladiator sandals or sneakers, depending on your preference.

My Love for 8tracks

Hey there, fellow procrastinators!

Today I want to talk to you  about an app I've been using, and loving, for around a year now. The app, as you can probably tell from the title of this post, is called 8tracks and it is an app, or website, that allows you to create, share and listen to music playlists. I discovered the website last summer when I was trying to find a way to discover new music, and 8tracks is perfect for that. For me personally, the free apps best 'selling' point is that it allows and even encourages users to discover new music and new artists, which I believe is a very positive thing as no one wants to listen to the same five songs on the radio for the entirety of the month, just waiting for a new song to be released which sounds exactly like the previous 'hit single'. On 8tracks you can search for playlists by artist, genre, occasion or emotions, and then discover a playlist that fulfills your desire. Although I am sure that similar websites are in existence, I strongly believe that 8tracks is an innovative and wonderful creation, that I am a very vocal lover of. So, whether your ears are craving a new sound, or you just want to procrastinate some more, I recommend that you head over to www.8tracks.com or download their free app, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Summer Ramblings

Well hey there friends, its been a while...

So what's happened since I wrote my first post? I guess the main change is that I have now finished my A Levels and am on my summer holidays - which is just so fantastic!! I've been on summer for around three weeks now and it's been wonderful, despite the bipolar, English weather. I've been to theme parks, prom, nightclubs (because I also turned 18!!!! :D) and quite a few parties.

However, shamelessly, I have spent most of my summer watching every single match of the FIFA World Cup, literally only missing three matches. As England crashed out in the group stages, I have been backing Germany throughout the tournament and hoping for them to win it tomorrow night. My choice to support Germany mainly spans from my love for the way they play football, but also because three of their players play for the club team I support, Arsenal. Although, as previously mentioned, the tournament ends tomorrow night, so I am going to need to find something else to do with my time, such as; blogging (oi, oi) or, god forbid, being sociable! :O

Overall, summer has been lovely so far and I am very excited for its continuation. I hope to share some of it with you all through this blog and that I don't fulfill the name of this blog by procrastinating for the entirety of summer and not blogging once. Well, a girl can wish.
